According to the Telegraph, the wholesale price of butter has doubled in 2 times in the past 13 months, as the demand for milk and other dairy products has increased due to changes in dietary habits of the inhabitants of Asia.

In Western countries, the demand also increased after the announcement that dairy products reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease.

The French Association of bakers said that the price of croissants and other French dishes such as buns and cakes, will increase dramatically, despite the objections of consumers.

Part of the croissants is comprised of 25% oil. This important component is now worth 5,37 Euro per kilogram, which is at 2.37 euros more compared to last year.
