The number of cattle in farms of all agricultural producers at the end of may reached 19.6 million head, 1.7% lower than a year earlier. In particular, the number of cows decreased by 1.3% to 8.4 million sheep and goats – by 0.3%, to 27.3 million While the number of pigs, according to statistics, grew by 1.1% to 23.5 million.

In January-may 2017 in the farms of all categories produced 5.4 million tons (+3.8 per cent) of livestock and poultry for slaughter (in live weight), 12 million tons (+0,9%) milk and 18.1 billion (+2.2%) eggs.
