Agriculture Minister of Russia Alexander Tkachev said that the country for the last three years has cut food imports in half.

"The Russian countryside, agro-industrial complex in recent years seriously develops. We grow in production, in quality. We return to the Russian land, figuratively speaking, pushed away from the shelves, from trade primarily imported products. Over the past three years we have almost cut the import of food from different countries twice", — said Tkachev.

He also stressed that Russian farmers at the moment perform "historical mission".

The Minister also said that the country will be able to completely replace imported food supplies in the next 5-7 years.
