According to the Karelian authorities, annually, trout farming purchase up to 25 thousand tons of fish feed manufacturers Finland, Denmark and Italy. With the development of aquaculture by 2020, expected to grow 30-35 thousand tons of trout per year, the need to purchase feed will increase to 50 thousand tons.

"This is the first venture which will produce food for trout farms in such volumes. For us it is very important because all food is imported, imported from European countries, and, of course, it will reduce the production of trout and increase independence in this component, to create competition in the market. It is very important for Russia. If the production plans will come true it will be a large acceptance, which can cover up to 50% of the market in feed for trout", — said the head of Rosrybolovstvo Ilya Shestakov during the opening ceremony of the plant.

As told the representative of the company "Karelian fish factory" Andrei Tsarev, the company plans to produce up to 4 thousand tons of fodder per year. There are prospects for expanding production to 17 thousand tons of feed per year.

The volume of investments amounted to RUR 65 million. In the future we plan to establish their own laboratories for quality control of manufactured products and incoming raw materials, now he has to do in Moscow, said Tsarev.
