A major supplier of fish and seafood from Russia and abroad "Island" will be built in North Ossetia, a high-tech complex for trout, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the company Danila Duanev at a press conference in Vladikavkaz.

"Production in [North] Ossetia is our first step from the point of view of expansion in the RF regions. Of course, the nature of the Republic is almost ideal for creating of optimal conditions for cultivation of ecologically clean trout," said Durnev.

According to him, in the first phase, by 2018 it is planned to organize an experimental farm trout, to develop production and technological processes, to build a fish processing complex. To achieve these goals purchased land in the town of Ardon, with a total area of 23 hectares.

In 2019 it is planned to expand capacity of the site to 1000 tons, design of three new farms with a capacity of 1,000 tons each. The total volume of planned investments to achieve these goals will be 300 million rubles.

The third phase is to transfer to local farmers proprietary technology for growing trout. Company "Island" will provide production and process control trout, sourcing feed, processing of farmed fish and its realization. The task of the farmer will be in compliance with the technology for rearing fish, which will be guaranteed sold to company "Island". This will allow you to create many farms and new jobs.

Implementation of project became possible thanks to negotiations with the development Agency of the Republic.

The decline in fish production

Peak fish production in North Ossetia occurred in 2013, then produced 1 339 tons of fish. By 2015, the production volume decreased by 77.9%, to 295 tons. The number of employees in industry declined by 25.5%, profitability of production has decreased by 10.8 times and amounted to 4.5%. The 2015 fishery and fishing in North Ossetia in the region involved 26 organizations.
