The document "Analysis of economic efficiency of construction, operation and maintenance of fencing along the border with Belarus and Ukraine" - the result of the efforts of the special working group. He was adopted at the end of last year. The group includes representatives of the Ministry of internal Affairs and administration, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of infrastructure and construction, Ministry of agriculture and rural development, Chief veterinary Inspectorate, the State veterinary Institute and Institute of Economics of agriculture and food industry.

Group Chairman, Deputy Minister of agriculture Rafal Romanovsky during one of the December meetings of the Seimas Committee on agriculture reported to deputies that the work is going in different directions. Analyzed the rules following from the law on construction, assessment of the impact of construction on the environment, determined parameters that must match the fence. In addition, it was necessary to determine the route along which needs to be built a fence.

- Analysis of economic efficiency involves the calculation of construction in two variants: in all the border with Belarus and Ukraine, or on selected parts of the border. The document also provides options concerning the type of the installed fence is similar to barriers used in road construction along the freeways or in the form of electric shepherd - said Romanovsky.

In accordance with the models covering the period of 25 years, with no fencing and with the current pressure of the pathogen on the environment in neighbouring countries, the cost of ASF would be 890 million Euro. With the existence of a physical barrier, the value of the ASF control is estimated at 360 million euros, the construction of a fence all along the border with Belarus and Ukraine will allow to reduce the cost of ASF by approximately 60%. The construction of the fence is estimated at about 31 million euros. The cost of construction and maintenance in the first code amount to more than 45 million Euro, - said the Deputy Minister.
