- Strengthening of control need especially now that a growing number of people crossing the Eastern border of the country. This is due to the Christmas holiday period our neighbors - said Peter Pogorzelski from the Customs Management Department. For all of last year, we caught almost 200 tons of illegal products of animal origin. They are subject to deactivation and elimination near the border crossing. Most often this procedure we spend on the border with Ukraine, Belarus and the Kaliningrad region.

In the past year, customs officers have discharged about 3,5 thousand penalties for entering, which followed the ban on the importation of products of animal origin from outside the European Union. The amount of fines on average 300-500 zlotys (50-70 Euro). If we are talking about transportation of the goods, it can be recognized as a crime and will be prosecuted in accordance with the law on violations in the field of state property. Qualification of a crime will depend on the quantity.

According to the State veterinary Inspectorate, food products, illegally imported from outside the EU, could affect the spread of the virus in the vicinity of Warsaw - last week there was found 40 virus-infected dead wild boars. Only 2018 on published data about 3 outbreaks of ASF in domestic pigs and of the 105 cases of infected boars. The total number of identified lesions reached 107 and 982-x , respectively.
