"According to the world organization for animal health (OIE) on 25 January 2018 and noted that 2013 was the second prepituitary wave of avian influenza. In January 2018, eight countries (Afghanistan, Cambodia, Taiwan, Iraq, Japan, South Korea, Saudi Arabia and South Africa) and two continents (Africa and Asia) were affected by outbreaks in poultry," — said in the message.

In Rospotrebnadzor said that recently new and returning strains H5N1, H5N2 and H5N6 have struck Asia, Europe and the middle East. In addition, the Agency noted that there are signs of geographical distribution. "From the standpoint of health, the most dangerous to humans are strains of H7N9, H5N6, and H5N1", — experts underline.

"The current anapskaia cover all the continents. Killed about 120 million birds. In 68 countries experienced at least one outbreak of avian influenza. Strains such as H5N1, H5N2 and H5N8 are today a standard for these countries," — said in Rospotrebnadzor.

The Ministry said that the circulation of different virus subtypes complicates the control and elimination of outbreaks. "In comparison with the first wave (2005 to 2012) developing in the present time marked by a tripling in the number of circulating subtypes of influenza virus of birds (12 vs 4)", — stated in the message.

From developing outbreaks of OIE (23 February 2018) said Taiwan, which has reported four outbreaks in poultry (chickens and geese) related to highly pathogenic avian influenza virus H5N2. "30767 of birds as a result of the outbreak died in 1321, the rest were destroyed to prevent the spread of the epidemic", — reported in the CPS.

Particularly dangerous to human avian influenza viruses were isolated in China (H7N9 and H5N7) and in some regions of Africa and Asia (H5N1), noted in the Department. Experts said that from January 25 OIE received notification of outbreaks of disease from Afghanistan (HPAI H5), Israel (HPAI H5N8), and also from Iran, Ireland, the Netherlands and Sweden (HPAI H5N6) and Ghana (H9N2).

"The twenty-second of February, the OIE has received a notice from Vietnam about an outbreak of avian influenza (H5N6) which killed 1,200 head of poultry. February 25 — Central veterinary Institute of the Netherlands reported the outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI H5N6) on three farms, the result of which was destroyed 36 thousand heads of poultry," — said in Rospotrebnadzor.
