Lectures given by leading specialists of the Institute have included major methodical and methodological aspects of work with plant genetic resources, including: current understanding of the biological characteristics, the genetic diversity of the major economically important crops and their wild relatives; methods of identifying and creating initial material for breeding; evaluation of the gene pool in the complex of economically valuable traits; data on modern breeding methods, including marker-auxiliary selection; basic statistical program, methods of mathematical processing of the material, etc.
Participants were familiarized with the main aspects of the work of the Institute: the collection, study and use of plant genetic resources in the vicinity of the respective structural units. All participants were given the option of receiving personal consultation curators of collections, and at the end of the school, awarded the certificates.
