Originated in Leningrad region a new breed of sheep registered by the Ministry of agriculture of the Russian Federation. This is the decision of the departmental Commission for testing and protection of selection achievements in livestock, which recognized a selection achievement and recommended the inclusion in the state register Katunsky breed. It gives the right to reproduce, to import, certify and implement breeding material in Russia.

Breeding work on breeding of the breed lasted 20 years, the farm Katumi, located in Vsevolozhsk district. This is a smooth-haired breed of sheep for meat production, do not require shearing.

Last year in the state register have also been derived in the Leningrad region potato variety "hussars". In addition, the application for recognition of a new breed of fish "Ropshinskaya gold".
