The St. Petersburg Parliament proposed to revoke palm oil producers tax incentives, reports on 6 April, the correspondent of IA REGNUM. The bill was supported at the meeting of the Committee of the legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg legislation.

The initiator of the amendments was the United Russia Denis Chetyrbok. It proposes to amend the city law on the simplified system of taxation and to abolish a preferential tax regime for individual entrepreneurs who are engaged in palm oil to increase the tax rate for them up to 7%.

Chetyrbok believes that the way to fight "harmful products" that are cheaper due to the low cost of palm oil, which in part substitute for butter.

"Such measures are needed not only to replenish the budget, but in order to affect the situation with the consumption of harmful products is not banned, and other methods, especially because we are talking about products of mass consumption. Therefore, taxes on such products are entirely justified," says the United Russia.

Palm oil is widely used in the production of dairy and confectionery products, including for children. Sometimes, instead of edible palm oil by unscrupulous manufacturers use technical. Its use provokes cancer.

In 2017, the Rosselkhoznadzor proposed to introduce in Russia the control over the movement of components used for rigging products: palm oil, soybeans and several other components.
