The agreement on creation in Tula region biotechnology cluster, with "Cargill" was signed on 24 may during the St. Petersburg international economic forum between the government of the region, the head of Cargill representation in the Russian Federation by Elena zasimovoj and the head of administration Sergey Efremov Baltabaeva.

"It is planned that the cluster will be created on the territory of advancing socio-economic development (TOSER) "Efremov" on a plot area of 30 hectares. Also there will be a number of small and medium enterprises on deep processing of agricultural raw materials", — stated in the message.

As noted by the regional authorities, directly Cargill will invest about 1.5 billion rubles. It is expected that the project will contribute to the economic development of towns and the creation of new jobs.

"The creation of the biochemical cluster is an important project for the city of Ephraim, which is a one-industry town and the territory of advancing socio-economic development. The total investment in the cluster to 10 billion rubles. Noteworthy is the fact that it is primarily projects in the field of agriculture," said Dyumin.

Tula oblast is already working with the Cargill company, which executes investment agreement for the construction of power plant for the simultaneous production of electricity and heat concluded in 2017 in the framework of the XXI St. Petersburg international economic forum. The company has already implemented the project on expansion of production of oils, fats with the release of new products, as well as feed production. The agreement on it was signed by Alexey Dyumin in the framework of SPIEF-2016. At the production site in Efremov Cargill produces starches, molasses, glucose-fructose syrups, gluten, fats and vegetable oil, feed for cattle, premixes, semi-finished products from poultry meat. Production volume in 2017 compared with 2016 year increased by 8%.

The American company Cargill has been supplying the food, agricultural, financial and industrial products and services around the world. The company has extensive experience with Russia: first delivery of grain to the Soviet Union began in 1963, 70 years their volume has increased several times.
