Farmers and private farms produce almost half of all agricultural production in Russia, said the Minister of agriculture Dmitry Patrushev in the General Assembly of the world farmers ' organization.

"Together with private farms farmers produced 48% of agricultural products", - he said.

According to him, the development of farmers ' movement is one of the most important tasks of the Ministry of agriculture of Russia, which used a wide range of tools - measures of the state support, development of cooperatives, creation of comfortable living conditions for farmers and their families. "Farms in Russia are the fastest growing sector of the agricultural economy. Farmers in today's Russia is more than 205 thousand farms, which are annually increasing their agricultural production", - said Patrushev.

He added that farmers occupy the key position in ensuring global food security, because, according to the Food and agricultural organization, farmers produce more than 80% of the world's food in value terms. "This means that the state should become for farmers a reliable partner, creating the conditions for implementation of modern technologies, farming practices and development of agricultural cooperative societies", he concluded.
