In the Omsk region in connection with the extremely difficult conditions for conducting sowing campaign entered emergency mode. The corresponding order was signed on may 31, acting Governor Alexander Burkov, reported IA REGNUM in the regional government.

According to the Minister of agriculture of the Omsk region Maxim Chegusova, today spring crops in the whole region planted 53% of the planned areas. There are farms and whole regions, where the rate is halved. Thus, to carry out the sowing campaign on time (to 5 June) and in the planned volume will not all agricultural enterprises.

Omsk farmers emphasize that the pace of planting this year was influenced by low temperature and excess moisture. Similar situation was in 1969. Excess soil moisture recorded in the Omsk region, is considered particularly dangerous phenomenon.

The regional government has said that a state of emergency in Omsk will give farmers the opportunity to document the reasons for the failure of the plan of sown areas and gross harvest, for which they received 700 million rubles of state support. However, Burkov emphasized that relax the farmers do not:

"The state of emergency is introduced. This will allow us to somehow insure our citizens. Nevertheless, you must ensure that farmers do not relax, tried to cope with the sowing continued to the extent possible, field work, changed the culture, so that eventually the bulk of acreage was planted. This is the task of the Ministry of agriculture and the scope of your responsibility."

The acting Governor noted that this year the sowing campaign in the region was prepared, including fuel reserves, "as if in anticipation of the increased prices." Additionally, the increase in fuel prices has become another serious problem for the Omsk farmers.

Now, to minimize losses, farming replaced crop varieties on fast-maturing, reduce the grain, increasing the crop area of summer crops for feed purposes.

As reported earlier by IA REGNUM, in may of this year, in some regions of Siberia was abnormally cold.

Some snow fell at times. May the storm overtook and Omsk region, in this regard, in several areas it was recorded the threat of agrometeorological natural phenomenon — waterlogging of the soil.

Recall that in 2017 Omsk farms have harvested. According Omqstat, the region produced nearly 3.5 million tons of grain; 741,1 thousand tons of potatoes; 272,1 thousand tons of vegetables; 187,4 thousand tons of oilseeds.
