The second plant for the production of tomato paste and the first large greenhouse complexes to be built in Astrakhan region until the end of 2020. Total investment in the agroindustrial complex (AIC) in the region will exceed 10 billion rubles, said Tuesday the Governor of Astrakhan region Alexander Zhilkin.

"The flagship project in agriculture - the agro-industrial complex "Astrakhan" in kharabalinskiy district, not only goes to full power, but will expand. It is almost the only domestic producer of tomato paste, which produces it, and not just Packed imported raw materials. Investors in the long term plan to build in the region of the second plant, investing an additional 5.4 billion rubles," - said Zhilkin, speaking with the investment message to local MPs, representatives of government, business and the public.

The Governor also noted that the company "Chinar" (Astrakhan) will invest 2.4 billion rubles in the construction of the greenhouse complex in Astrakhan, and "TC "CEDAR" (Astrakhan) intends to invest 2.2 billion - in the greenhouse in Ikraninskiy area. Now the region has no large complexes for year-round cultivation of vegetables. "In total up to 2020 for the implementation of investment projects in the agro-industrial orientation planned to raise more than 10 billion rubles," - said Zhilkin.

According to the regional Ministry of agriculture and fish industry, Astrakhan farmers last year harvested 1.7 million tons of vegetable and melon products and potatoes (in 2016, almost 1.5 million tonnes). About 70% of the produced crop output is sold outside the region. "APC "Astrakhan" was commissioned in September 2016, this year the plant has to run a third production line, which will take about 40% of the Russian market of tomato paste. Last year the plant produced about 30 thousand tons of tomato paste, which buy such famous companies as Heinz, Unilever.
