"Overall, the catch levels are large. Popular fish that recently came to the far East, mackerel, sardine and iwashi — their production volumes are also growing. I hope that the volume of catch will affect a price reduction directly to the consumer. In the wholesale segment they already fell," — said in an interview with RIA Novosti in the framework of the WEF, the head of Rosrybolovstvo Ilya Shestakov.

The spokesman said that in the current year in Russia the record volume of catch. "The salmon we've got more than 610 thousand tons. The record was in 2009 — 530 thousand tons. The total yield is also 5% higher dynamics than in the record year 2017", — explained the head of Department.

Previously Shestakov predicted that the production of Russian fishermen in 2018 will exceed five million tons. The catch in 2017 amounted to 4.9 million tons. The Agency expects that in 2019 will also be promising from the point of view of volume of catch.
