The topic of the possible introduction of restrictions on the use of palm oil in food products will be discussed with the government of the Russian Federation and the expert community. This was reported on Wednesday to journalists by the Chairman of the state Duma Vyacheslav Volodin.

"We discussed this issue just at the beginning of this week, discussed last week with the government with the relevant ministries," said the speaker, answering the question, discussed whether the creation of mechanisms aimed at limiting the consumption of palm oil.

"We believe that the steps now being taken, is a part of the solution," continued Volodin. "But most importantly, of course, do everything to ensure that store shelves were not damaged goods, he said. - Thus we must do everything possible to ensure that the citizen under the guise of products manufactured, for example, from milk, has not received a substitute from palm oil or cheese made from palm oil and so forth."

The head of the lower chamber of the Russian Parliament said that the issues that "require further regulatory decisions, although some problems have been resolved: introduced a separate shelf, other marking of the goods."

Earlier Wednesday, the state Duma voted in the third reading of the abolition of preferential VAT rates for palm oil and increased it to 20%. Norm was adopted as an amendment to the second reading of the bill to reduce the VAT rate on fruit and berry production to 10%. Now, any vegetable oil is subject to VAT at a concessional rate of 10%.
