The main buyers in September 2016. steel – Egypt (71 thousand tons against 27,38 thousand tons in September 2015), Italy (44.4 thousand tons against of 5.01 million tons), the Netherlands (28.5 thousand tons against of 144.6 thousand tons), Germany (27.5 thousand tons vs. 3.1 million tons), Lebanon (26 thousand tons versus 20 tons).

Notable was the shipment of 10.4 thousand tons of Romanian corn in such a traditional exporter of maize such as South Africa, due to reduced harvest and the need to ensure neighbouring African countries affected by drought. The last time Romania supplied significant volumes to South Africa in the 2011/12 season is 141.8 thousand tons for the whole season.
