Next season Mexico will increase import of yellow corn, as the crop size, the negative impact of rising fuel prices and the weakness of the national currency, according to the Association of agricultural producers of Mexico (CNPAMM).

The volume of imports of yellow corn, which comes to Mexico, mainly from the US will grow to 16.8-19.2 million tons, predicts CNPAMM. In the current season, which ends in March 2017, Mexico imports 14-16 million tons of this culture.

Costs Mexican farmers to grow maize will increase by 40% due to rising fuel prices, for imported herbicides and other products.
