According to the final data of Rosstat, in 2016, the gross yield of flax amounted to a record 665 thousand tons, which is 29% higher than in 2015 (516 thousand tons). The increase in the production of this oilseed is due to the increase in the acreage under flax and increasing crop yields.

So, the area under this crop was at a record 708 thousand hectares (+10% compared to the year 2015, 642 thousand hectares). At the same time, the yield of flax in the past year amounted to 9,7 dt/ha, the second figure after the record in 2011 (10.4 C/ha).

Note that the main linoleum regions in Russia are southern, Volga, Central and Siberian Federal districts, which are on average 85% of the acreage of flax.
