The decrease in production is due to the reduction in acreage of grain as a result of rainfall deficit during the sowing season (September-December), as well as a partial reorientation of local farmers for the production of other crops, particularly sugar cane and corn.

It is expected that next season the government of Pakistan will be able to purchase on the domestic market of about 6 million tons of wheat, which will increase its reserves up to 10.5 million tonnes.

The export of grain from the country in the next marketing year, according to analysts, will remain at the current season and will be 600 thousand tons, of which 400 thousand tonnes will be supplied to Afghanistan.
