As of may 3, 2017 in the Russian Federation, fed by 12.7 million hectares (in 2016 is 12.2 million hectares), or 73,4% of the sowing area of winter crops. Including in the southern Federal district – 5.0 million hectares, or 81.9% of the sowing areas, in the North Caucasian Federal district – 1.7 million hectares, or 76.3% of the sowing areas, in the Central Federal district 3.6 million hectares, or 92.1% of the sowing areas, in the Volga Federal district – about 2.3 million ha or 50.2% of the sowing areas in the North-West Federal district – 82.8 thousand ha or 82,7% of the sowing areas, in the Urals Federal district with 13.4 thousand hectares or 19,6% of the sowing areas, in the Siberian Federal district 38.3 thousand ha or 10.6% of the sowing areas.

Spring sowing in the whole country conducted in an area of 11.2 million hectares or 21.2% of the forecast (2016 12.1 million hectares). Including in the southern Federal district spring sowing carried out in the area of 3.4 million ha or 53.2% of the forecast (2016 to 4.0 million hectares). In the North Caucasus Federal district – 1.4 million hectares or 76.2% of the forecast (2016 to 1.3 mn ha). In the Central Federal district – 5.0 million hectares, or 53.9 per cent of the forecast (2016, 3.9 million hectares). In the far Eastern Federal district – RUB 196.8 thousand ha or 10.6% of the forecast (2016 – 207,1 thousand hectares). In the Volga Federal district, with 1.1 million hectares or 6.8% of the forecast (2016 and 2.4 million hectares). In the North-West Federal district – 22,5 thousand hectares or 4,5% of the forecast (2016 – 89,0 thousand hectares). In the Urals Federal district – 35,7 thousand hectares or 0.8% of the forecast (2016 – 23.3 thousand ha), in the Siberian Federal district 87.1 thousand ha or 0.7% of the forecast (2016 – 300,6 thousand hectares).

Spring grain crops in the whole country was sown on the area of 6.5 million hectares or 20.8% of the forecast (2016, 7.3 million hectares). Of these, spring wheat was sown 886,4 thousand hectares or 6.5% of the forecast (2016 and 1.1 million hectares). Spring barley on the area of 2.8 million hectares or 35.7% of the forecast (2016 and 3.3 million hectares). Corn for grain – on the area of 1.5 million hectares or 49.7 per cent of the forecast (2016 and 1.4 million hectares). Rice is planted on the area of 36,7 thousand ha or 17.4% of the forecast (2016 – 38,0 thousand hectares).

Sugar beet (factory) were sown 920,5 thousand ha or 81.5% of the forecast (2016 – 810,4 thousand hectares).

Sunflower for grain was sown on an area of 1.9 million ha or 27.1 per cent of the forecast (2016 – 2.1 million ha).

Spring rape was sown 125,9 thousand hectares or 14.3% of the forecast (2016 to 115.2 thousand hectares).

Soybeans were sown 310,1 thousand hectares or 13.7% of the forecast (2016 – 223.4 m ha).

Potatoes in the agricultural enterprises and peasant (farm) planted on the area of 59.0 thousand hectares or 17.6% of the forecast (2016 – 55,5 thousand hectares), vegetables – were sown to 55.7 thousand hectares or 27.3% of the forecast (2016 – 57,5 thousand hectares).
