As of may 15, 2017 in the Russian Federation fueled 13.4 million ha (2016 12.7 million hectares), or 76,9% of the sowing area of winter crops. Including in the southern Federal district – 5.1 million hectares or 83,6% of the sowing areas, in the North Caucasian Federal district – 1.8 million ha, or 76.8 per cent of the sowing area, in the Central Federal district 3.6 million hectares or 93,2% of the sowing areas, in the Volga Federal district – 2.6 million ha or 58.1% of the sowing area in the North-Western Federal district of 85.6 thousand hectares or 85.5% of the sowing areas, in the Urals Federal district – 25,5 thousand ha or 37.4% of the sowing areas, in the Siberian Federal district 111,8 thousand hectares or 31% of the sowing areas.

Spring sowing in the whole country conducted in an area of 24.5 million hectares or 46.6% of the forecast (2016 – 25.7 million ha). Including in the southern Federal district spring sowing carried out on an area of 4.4 million hectares, or 70.1% of the forecast (2016 – 5.0 million ha). In the North Caucasus Federal district – 1.7 million hectares, or 93.3% of the forecast (2016 and 1.4 million hectares). In the Central Federal district 7.1 million ha or 75.9 percent of the forecast (2016 and 6.4 million hectares). In the far Eastern Federal district – 413,2 thousand hectares, or 22.3% of the forecast (2016 – 373.5 thousand ha). In the Volga Federal district – 7.4 million hectares or 47.3% of the forecast (2016 – 8.8 million hectares). In the North-Western Federal district – 134,7 thousand hectares or 27.1 per cent of the forecast (2016 – the amount of 235.1 thousand hectares). In the Urals Federal district – 960,1 thousand hectares or 21.1% of the forecast (2016 – 962,2 thousand hectares), in the Siberian Federal district is 2.5 million hectares or 19.3% of the forecast (2016 – 2.5 million ha).

Spring grain crops in the whole country planted on an area of 14.5 million ha, or 46.7% of the forecast (2016 – 15.4 million hectares). Of these, spring wheat planted on an area of 3.7 million ha or 27.4% of the forecast (2016 and 4.3 million ha). Spring barley on the area of 5.0 million hectares or 64.3 per cent of the forecast (2016 and 5.6 million hectares). Corn for grain – on the area of 2.3 mln ha or 76.4% of the forecast (2016 – 2.1 million ha). Rice is planted on an area of 126.5 thousand ha or 59.9% of the forecast (2016 – about 125.4 thousand ha).

Sugar beet (factory) planted on an area of 1.1 million hectares, or 99.4% of the forecast (2016 and 1.0 million ha).

Sunflower for grain was sown on the area of 4.2 million hectares or 58.8% of the forecast (2016 and 4.3 million ha).

Spring rape was sown on the area of 393.8 thousand ha or 44.8% of the forecast (2016 426,7 hectares).

Soybeans were sown 927,7 thousand hectares or 41% of the forecast (2016 – 671,1 thousand hectares).

Potatoes in the agricultural enterprises and peasant (farm) planted on the area of 119.3 thousand hectares or 35.5% of the forecast (2016 – 136,7 thousand hectares), vegetables – were sown at 80.1 thousand ha or 39,3% of the forecast (2016, representing 86.8 thousand hectares).
