As of may 19, 2017 in the Russian Federation fueled 13.5 million ha (2016 12.7 million ha) or 78% of the sowing area of winter crops. Including in the southern Federal district – 5.1 million hectares or 84.1% of the sowing areas, in the North Caucasian Federal district – 1.8 million ha, or 76.8 per cent of the sowing area in the Central Federal district – 3.7 million ha, or 93.9% of the sowing areas, in the Volga Federal district – 2.8 million hectares or 60.8 per cent of the sowing area in the North-West Federal district – 88 thousand ha or 87.9% of the sowing areas, in the Urals Federal district – 27.9 thousand hectares, or 40.9 per cent of the sowing area, in the Siberian Federal district of 118.2 thousand ha or 32.8% of the sowing areas.

Spring sowing in the whole country conducted in an area of 30.7 million ha or 58.2% of the forecast (2016 33.1 million hectares). Including in the southern Federal district spring sowing carried out on the area of 4.6 million hectares or 73.3% of the forecast (2016 and 5.2 million hectares). In the North Caucasus Federal district – 1.7 million hectares, or 93.7 per cent of the forecast (2016 – 1.6 million hectares). In the Central Federal district – 7.7 million ha or 82,8% of the forecast (2016, 7.3 million hectares). In the far Eastern Federal district – 570,3 thousand ha, or 30.8% of the forecast (2016 – 458,4 thousand hectares). In the Volga Federal district is 10.3 million hectares or 65.5% of the forecast (2016 – 11.6 mln ha). In the North-Western Federal district – 194,2 thousand ha or 39.1% of the forecast (2016 322 thousand hectares). In the Urals Federal district – 1.9 mln ha or 41.2% of the forecast (2016 1.7 million ha), in the Siberian Federal district – 3.8 million ha or 29.3% of the forecast (2016 – 5.0 million ha).

Spring grain crops in the whole country was sown on the area of 18.2 million hectares or 58.8% of the forecast (2016, 20.0 million ha). Of these, spring wheat planted on an area of 5.9 million ha or 43.4% of the forecast (2016 – 7.1 million hectares). Spring barley on the area of 5.6 million hectares or 72.9% of the forecast (2016 6.3 million hectares). Corn for grain – on the area of 2.5 million hectares or 82.2% of the forecast (2016 – 2.3 million ha). Rice was sown 137,3 thousand ha or 65% of the forecast (2016 -140,3 thousand hectares).

Sugar beet (factory) planted on an area of about 1.2 million hectares or totaled 102.1% of the forecast (2016 and 1.1 million hectares).

Sunflower for grain was sown on an area of 5.2 million hectares or 72.9% of the forecast (2016 and 5.3 million hectares).

Spring rape was sown 515,7 thousand ha or 58.6 per cent of the forecast (2016 – 609,3 thousand hectares).

Soybeans planted on an area of 1.2 million hectares or 53% of the forecast (2016 – 880,4 thousand hectares).

Potatoes in the agricultural enterprises and peasant (farm) planted on the square 156,3 thousand hectares or 46.5% of the forecast (2016 – 177,2 thousand hectares), vegetables – planted on an area of 100.1 thousand hectares or 49.1% of the forecast (2016 – of 96.8 thousand ha).
