As of may 23, 2017 in the Russian Federation fueled 16.5 million ha (2016 – 13.4 million hectares), or 95.3 per cent of the sowing area of winter crops. Including in the southern Federal district of 6.1 million hectares or 100% of the sowing areas in the North Caucasus Federal district – about 2.3 million hectares, or 100% of the sowing areas, in the Central Federal district of 3.7 million hectares or 96,3% of the sowing areas, in the Volga Federal district – 4.1 million hectares or 61,2% of the sowing areas in the North-West Federal district for 88.7 thousand ha 88.6% of the sowing areas, in the Urals Federal district – 41,2 hectares, or 60,4% of the sowing areas, in the Siberian Federal district is 123.4 thsd ha or 34.2% of the sowing areas.

Spring sowing in the whole country carried out on an area of 37.1 million hectares, or 70.5 percent of the forecast (2016 38.4 million hectares). Including in the southern Federal district spring sowing carried out on an area of 4.7 million ha or 75.2 per cent of the forecast (2016 and 5.3 million hectares). In the North Caucasus Federal district – 1.7 million hectares, or 93.7 per cent of the forecast (2016 – 1.6 million hectares). In the Central Federal district – 7.9 million hectares 85.2% of the forecast (2016 – 7.6 million ha). In the far Eastern Federal district – 827,9 thousand hectares or 44.7% of the forecast (2016 636,7 thousand hectares). In the Volga Federal district – 12.1 million hectares or 77,3% of the forecast (2016 12.7 million hectares). In the North-Western Federal district – 232,6 thousand hectares or 46.9 per cent of the forecast (2016 – 333,6 thousand hectares). In the Urals Federal district – 2.7 million ha or 58.6 per cent of the forecast (2016 and 2.6 million hectares), in the Siberian Federal district – 6.9 million ha or 54.1% of the forecast (2016 – 7.6 million ha).

Spring grain crops in the whole country planted on an area of 22.4 million ha, or 72.2% of the forecast (2016 23.6 million hectares). Of these, spring wheat was sown on an area of 8.5 million hectares or 62.7 per cent of the forecast (2016 – 9.7 million ha). Spring barley on the area of 6.2 million hectares or 80.9% of the forecast (2016 – 6.6 million ha). Corn for grain – on the area of 2.6 million ha or 86.5% of the forecast (2016 and 2.4 million hectares). Rice was sown on the area of 143,9 thousand hectares or 68.1% of the forecast (2016 -153,3 thousand hectares).

Sugar beet (factory) planted on an area of about 1.2 million ha, or 103.2% of the forecast (2016 and 1.1 million hectares).

Flax was sown on the area of 24.0 thousand ha or 48.1% of the forecast (2016 – 37.9 thousand hectares).

Sunflower for grain was sown on the area of 6.0 million hectares, or 83.4% of the forecast (2016 to 5.7 million hectares).

Spring rape was sown 662,2 thousand hectares or 75.3 per cent of the forecast (2016 – 693,3 thousand hectares).

Soybeans planted on an area of 1.5 million hectares or 64.3 per cent of the forecast (2016 and 1.1 million hectares).

Potatoes in the agricultural enterprises and peasant (farm) planted on the square 194,7 thousand hectares or 58% of the forecast (2016 – 231,8 thousand hectares), vegetables – were sown 109,9 thousand hectares or 54% of the forecast (2016 – 114,4 thousand hectares).
