As is known, the court on June 13, suspended the powers of the General organization for control of export and imports (GOEIC) for inspection of quality of imported agricultural products, and returned these powers to the Quarantine service of the Ministry of agriculture of Egypt.

In a written decision, the court confirmed not only the restoration of the authority of the Quarantine service, but says that the new system "has led to the violation of the requirements for import, provided the Quarantine service of the Ministry of agriculture, who prevented the supply of wheat infected, including ergot".

The written decision of the Administrative court of Egypt, according to lawyers, paves the way for the restoration of the standard "zero" of ergot. The lawyers claim that at the time of the appeal, the government is obliged to suspend the current system of inspection of imported wheat (i.e., GOEIC and assuming the content of the ergot of 0.05%). The appeal can take several months.

In mid-June representatives of the Ministry of agriculture and the state Agency GASC (importer of grain), it was stated that "the court's decision is procedural and administrative in nature and has nothing to do with the specifications".

The Egyptian government has shown determination to fight for the preservation of new system of monitoring imports and commitment to internationally recognized quality standards. Can the Executive to defeat judicial, staying in the legal field or have to "break through the knee" – question.
