The Ministry of agriculture of the Republic of South Africa raised its forecast of soybean production in the country in 2017/18 MG to a record 1.34 million tonnes, which is 81% higher than in the season 2016/17 (0.74 million tonnes)

The growth of gross harvest would contribute to increase in both acreage and average yield culture, which is expected in the range of 23-24 kg/ha.

Due to the record harvest of oilseeds, the country will be able to increase shipments of soybeans to 50 (7) thousand tons, which will also allow South Africa to return to the ranks of net exporters.

Processing of soybeans may increase by 0.2 million tons per year to a maximum for all time of 1.03 million tons.

In turn, the forecast harvest of sunflower seeds was reduced by 4% to 0.82 million tonnes, which would still exceed the result 2016/17 MG (0.75 million tons) and would be the highest rate in history.

Total supply of oilseeds will also be at a high level, which will allow to increase domestic processing of 0.1 million tonnes to 0.8 million tonnes.
