The volume of purchases was reduced compared with the previous month, more than 13% (68.7 thousand tons) and by 16% relative to may last year (71 thousand tonnes).

Generally, in the current 2016/17 season (September-may) Russia imported 641,1 thousand tons of palm oil, which is 11.6% less compared to the same period last 2015/16. Recall, while over the same period, imports were a record – about 725 thousand tons.

In the current season 2016/17 reduction of palm oil imports was due to reduction of purchases from the main importers – Indonesia, Malaysia and the Netherlands. However, in the structure of import the share of Indonesia was reduced to 78% versus 86% a year earlier, while Malaysia and the Netherlands, by contrast, increased to 10% and 9%, respectively.
