Export of corn from Russia by the end of 2016/17 amounted to 5.3 million tonnes
The volume of Russian exports of maize by the end of the 2016/2017 marketing year amounted to 5.3 million tonnes (+13% for 2015/2016), the press service of Rosselkhoznadzor

Over the past agricultural year maize was exported to 45 countries. In comparison with the season 2015/2016 and expanded markets for corn by 12 countries: Vietnam, Bangladesh, Kenya, Senegal, UK, Canada, USA, Mexico, Ukraine, Morocco, Ghana, India.

Despite the decline in purchases of maize Korea (908 thousand tonnes, -9%), the country ranked first in the list of importing countries (share of 17%). Four-fold increase in shipments to Iran, amounting to 873 thousand tons, or 16% of the overall share of maize export. A significant increase in procurement of maize has allowed Vietnam to take third place in the list of main countries-importers – 852 thousand tons (share of 16%).

It should be noted the increase in purchases of corn by the following countries: Japan – 290 thousand tons (22% more than in 2015/2016), Iran – 873 thousand tonnes (four times more than in the 2015/2016 season) and the Vietnam – 852 thousand tons (in 2015/2016 supplies).

A reduction in supplies to Turkey up to 706 thousand tonnes (-32% by 2015/2016), the Netherlands - 284 thousand tons (-40%), Latvia - to 186 thousand tonnes (-35%).

For the three months 2017/2018 export shipments of corn was 759,3 thousand tons. Products sent to 27 countries, the greatest volumes directed to Turkey – 265 thousand tons, Iran – 147 thousand tons, and Lebanon – 70 thousand tons.
