Algeria due to the small volume of domestic production for almost all their needs in maize and barley covered by imports. In 2016. the country imported 4.11 million tons of corn and 879,214 thousand tonnes of barley for a total of $922,08 million

Currently, the Algerian refiners complain of high grain prices and shortage of its proposal after the government introduced restrictions on imports as part of measures to save public funds, amid falling revenues from energy exports.

"We want to help processors cope with high prices" -
the official said the Ministry of agriculture of Algeria.
