"Basically, the increase reflects higher forecasts of the corn crop in the United States and a significant increase in acreage under maize in Indonesia", - is spoken in the message published by the FAO on 7 December.

It is reported that world production of wheat this season, according to the organization, will be 754,8 million tons of rice 500,8 million tons.

"According to forecasts, in the season-2017/18 the volume of world grain consumption will grow by 1.2% in comparison with last year's level, reaching 2,599 billion tons, and will increase the volume of rice and wheat intended for human consumption", - noted experts.

As for world reserves of grain, by the end of 2017/18 MG is expected to rise to a record 726 million tons. While world stocks of wheat and corn also reached record highs.

"Large reserves will lead to an increase in the ratio of world stock levels of grain for consumption, at 27.3%, which will be the highest level in 16 years", - stated in the message.
