Côte d'Ivoire cuts cocoa production, chocolate rises in price
Cocoa beans prices at the London exchange grew by 17%.
Cocoa beans prices reached a maximum at the world exchanges this year. The rise in
prices is caused by adverse weather in the Western Africa – the main region of cocoa
beans production – and a great demand on the product from Europe and North
America. If March futures for cocoa delivery at the London exchange LIFFE
bargained at 1425 pounds sterling for a ton in February, now the price has reached
1699 pounds sterling.
