The export of potatoes from the United States soared to record highs in the last 12 months due to a growing demand in Asia.

According to statistics of the Ministry of agriculture of the USA, in the last season, which ended in June 2014, export volume of all American varieties of potatoes amounted to almost $1,756 billion, which is 7.5% more than in the previous season.

Exports of frozen potato has increased more than other species, 10%,supply of dry potatoes increased by 6%, fresh - 5.3%. The export of finished potato chips declined by 4%. Decreased exports of fresh potatoes - by 4.8%, as the increase in prices has reduced demand.

Mexico's exports of fresh potatoes has decreased by 10%, while the value of exports increased by 21%.

Manufacturers and suppliers of potatoes are now in a favorable position, primarily due to the constant growth of demand in Asia. Japan remains the largest buyer of American potatoes, and Korea overtook China, becoming the fourth largest importer. Most imports grew potatoes U.S. in the Philippines, which opened its market in the past year.
