Opponents of the bills for the labelling of GM products to be voted on will be held next month in Oregon and Colorado, have invested about $20 million in a campaign against the proposed laws, which is almost three times higher than the funds raised by supporters of the initiatives.

The bill involves the labeling of foods produced from genetically modified crops, which are widely distributed in the United States.

Such bills for mandatory labeling failed in California in 2012 and in Washington state in 2013. Vermont passed a law on mandatory labeling of this year, but manufacturers Association grocery filed a lawsuit to block the law.

Lists of opponents of the law include corporate giants such as Monsanto Co., a leading developer of GM crops, as well as PepsiCo Inc., Kellogg Co. and Kraft Foods.

Financial reports of the campaign in Oregon show that opponents of the law had provided approximately $10.7 million compared to $5.5 million from supporters of mandatory labeling.

In Colorado, many of these same enemies marking has allocated more than $11.2 million, compared with 441 000$, dedicated supporters of the labeling.

Among supporters of labeling of GM products is the company producing ice cream Ben & Jerry's, which is also one of the major financial guarantors initiatives. Supporters of the law, including the organization for the protection of the rights of consumers and farmers, companies producing organic products, I believe that opponents of labeling intend to fool voters.

Supporters of labeling GM products assured that the products produced from genetically modified ingredients can be harmful to human health due to the presence of pesticide residues and modified genetics of grain, and consumers have a right to know whether the product they consume, from GM corn/soy/sugar beet.

But opponents of labeling claim that genetically modified crops are as safe as ordinary crops, and marking will be costly and difficult logistics burden for food producers.
