The Russian government may declare a state of emergency due to low water on lake Baikal, RIA "Novosti" with reference Ministry of environment.
"Abnormal lowering of the water level in the lake can lead to emergency situations, as for Angarsk (Irkutsk region) - in connection with the forced stop of intake, and the Republic of Buryatia, where the water is already leads to negative consequences for fisheries and reduction of water reserves in the underground sources," the Ministry said.

The head of the Ministry of environment Sergey Donskoy has already been sent to the government Commission with a request to consider the introduction of state of emergency in the affected regions.

Earlier it was reported that due to the falling water level of the lake Baikal is on the brink of ecological disaster, but later denied this information.
