In the framework of the program of import substitution in the Kaluga region implemented a number of projects - in particular, for the production of berry crops, fish, mushrooms and vegetables. In the region in order to import substitution projects for the production of berry crops (Istrinskom, Ladiescom, Kirov and Baryatinsky areas), fish (in Przemysl and Borovskoy areas), fungi (Hvastovichsky area) and cheese (receive medical, Soukenicka and Kozelsk areas). In addition, developed the measures of the state support for local agricultural producers - target program, and grants for the development of farms.

This year about 10 thousand tons of tomatoes, cucumbers and greens plan to get the staff of one of the greenhouse complexes in the Special economic zone "Development". Now here took the first harvest of cucumbers. The planned annual production volume of vegetables will be 70 thousand tons.

This greenhouse complex is situated on a plot of 237 hectares Planned investment in the project is 13 billion rubles In the first phase of greenhouses already employs 230 people, with output to design capacity, the number of employed is expected to reach 1,300 people. First of all greenhouse complex (20 ha) was launched in November 2014, when was planting seeds of cucumbers and tomatoes. By the end of this year, growers intend to build, about 60 ha of greenhouses.
