Soglasno to Rosstat, the number of cattle in farms of all agricultural producers of Russia amounted to 19.8 million head as of 1 August, which is 2.1% lower than in the same period last year.

While the number of cows at the reporting date fell by 2.1% to 8.4 million head, sheep and goats - by 1.1%, to 27.5 million head. At the same time, the number of pigs has increased by 6.4% - to 23.4 million heads.

"In the structure of livestock of August 1, the farming population accounted for 44.4% of cattle, 16.9% of pigs, 45, 9% of sheep and goats. On the same date in 2015, these indicators were respectively 45,6%, 18,7% and 45.8%", — States the report.
