These data led the Deputy Chairman of the government of the Leningrad region - Chairman of the Committee on agriculture and fisheries Sergey yakhnyuk during a videoconference with heads of municipal formations of the region. The target level of the indicator for the Leningrad region for the year 2016 was set at 217 thousand hectares, the actual acreage in the region increased to 220 thousand hectares.

Just over two years in the Leningrad region in turnover was returned almost 9 thousand hectares.

Work on the further increase in acreage will continue in the framework, which came into force on 4 July 2016, amendments to the Land code of the Russian Federation on the use of agricultural land. The stated needs of farmers in land is 40 hectares.

The entry into circulation of land is by involving farmers earlier, unused agricultural land, by identifying unclaimed land shares and thank activities of municipalities to conduct municipal land control.

Only in the Leningrad region in 2016, 98 agricultural enterprises and peasant farms have increased acreage. In the work of identifying unclaimed land shares and their registration in the municipal property on 1 January 2016 407 formed land plots with total area of 1.78 hectares.
