A new soybean variety "monsoon" with a protein content above 40% brought scientists of Primorsky agricultural Institute

This was announced in a September 27 meeting of the Public expert Council on development of agriculture.

The experts noted that Primorye has the largest scientific potential in the far East. In the region there are six academic institutions, including Primorsky research Institute of agriculture (Prinnies), far East Institute of plant protection and four experimental stations.

According to the Director Prinnies Alexei Yemelyanov, now the scientists create early-maturing varieties of soybean with high protein content.


"One of the new varieties - "monsoon" in which the level of protein exceeds 40%. This grade is suitable not only for oil production but also protein food", he said.


Alexey Emelyanov also noted that this year it produced almost 20 tons of original seeds sold in seed farms and producers.

The Director of the regional Department of agriculture and food, Denis Bochkarev stressed that it is based on Prinnies plans to build selection seed-growing centre.

Note, in Primorye currently grown crop varieties breeding Prinnies area of more than 80% of the arable land.

For agricultural production scientists of the Institute are derived from entering into the State register of breeding achievements of the Russian Federation, more than 45 varieties of field crops: cereals, soya, rice, buckwheat, maize, vegetables, potatoes, fodder grasses, and others. Developed and constantly improved technology of their cultivation.
