The theme of the meeting was discussion of prospects of cooperation in the field of agriculture and fisheries. The meeting was held by Deputy Chairman of the Committee on agriculture of the Leningrad region Alexander Varenov.

He noted that Leningrad region is actively developing the fishing industry and expressed hope that this area will become one of the main directions of development of relations with Norway.

Today Leningrad oblast ranks third in Russia trout. In 2015, the fish produkcija produced 7.6 thousand tons, which is 7.5% higher than in 2014. For the first half of 2016, the companies grown more than 4.5 thousand tons of fish sold about thousands of tons of commercial fish products. In accordance with the plan for 2016 in the region will have grown to 7.6 thousand tons of fish, 95% of which is rainbow trout.

Sonia Walls, Chairman of the County Council the County of Nordland, the head of the Norwegian delegation, noted the great interest in cooperation with Leningrad oblast in the issues of breeding of fish in cages in open water, the supply of fish food and environmental tourism.

Alexander Varenov, noted that the region is open to fruitful and mutually beneficial cooperation and will be glad to develop business relationship.
