For 8 months of this year exports amounted to 43.5 thousand tons of coriander, or 12 thousand tonnes higher than a year earlier. RNS reported, citing data from the Russian export centre (REC).
In the REC said that only last year our country was in second place after India, which exports slightly more than 40 thousand tons of spices. Experts predict an increase of the Russian share in the export of spices to one-third of the total market. It is known that in 2014 exports amounted to only 9 thousand tons. It is also noteworthy that Russia is supplying most of the culture in India – 58%. The remaining part is shared by Indonesia, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and the countries of Europe and the Middle East.
According to official statistics, global production of coriander seed is about 600 thousand tons excluding private household plots, not included in the statistics. Among them are the world exports of 85-100 thousand tons. Major manufacturers and spices suppliers are Russia, India, Morocco, Canada, Romania, and Ukraine, in a slightly smaller scale culture produced in Argentina, Egypt, Iran, Israel, China, Mexico and the United States. Major importers are USA, Germany, UK, the Middle East and Southeast Asia.
