These data are presented in materials of the Ministry of agriculture for the international conference "Confectionery of the 21st century", which takes place on Tuesday in Moscow.

As stated at the conference the Director of Department food and processing industry Ministry of agriculture Evgeny Akhpashev, export development is one of the main activities of the food processing industry, including confectionery.

According to him, last year the largest consumer of Russian products was China. However, he noted that it is necessary to focus on the Asia-Pacific region as a whole. "The capacity of the market there is very large, but there are barriers and there is a history of consumption of confectionery products, he said. — But these barriers can be overcome, and once we break through, we will open a huge market".

Akhpashev also said that this year in the framework of the state program of agricultural development launched a project to support the export of agricultural products, which includes products of the food processing industry. "This "clip" falls and confectionery industry, that is, it is subject to all measures of support provided by the program", — said the head of the Department.

As reported by Akhpashev, in 2016 the revenue of the confectionery industry amounted to 0.5 trillion rubles from 6.2 trillion rubles (5.8 trillion rubles in 2015) the total revenue of the food processing industry. However, he clarified that the revenue of the food processing industry amounted to 15.4% of total revenue in the manufacturing industry.

As reported, in 2016 Russia exported 418,4 thousand tons of confectionery, which is 7.6% more than in 2015 (389,3 million tons). At the same time, the import of confectionery products dropped to 226,9 thousand tons 223,1 thousand tons in 2015.
