Import of dairy products in Russia decreased by 18% in January

As a result, in January 2017, Russia imported 17,9 thousand tons of dairy products ($17.2 million USD). This is 18.0% below the volumes in January 2016, and 8.0 percent less than the amount in January 2015. In 2015, in January the volume of import increased by 12.2% and amounted to 19.4 per thousand.

The main external supplier of dairy products in Russia is the Republic of Belarus, provided in 2013, 77% of total imports in 2015 and 97%, according to preliminary results 2016 – 93%, and in January 2017 – 92%.

The supply of dairy products from Belarus was reduced in 2016, according to preliminary data, 11.6% (imported 218,2 thousand tons), and in January 2017, a decline of 21.8% (imported 16,5 thousand tons).

After the introduction of Russia's special economic measures against a number of countries with the Russian market took dairy products from Finland, Estonia, Poland, France and other countries, providing up to 15% of imports.
