In January-February the production of pigs for slaughter in live weight in agricultural organizations increased by 7.5% compared to the same period last year and totaled 554,2 thousand tons. According to Rosstat, in February the average price of agricultural producers of pigs in Russia amounted to RUB 167,37/kg.

"The main growth of production of pigs in the agricultural organizations was provided by the manufacturers of the Chelyabinsk, Pskov, Belgorod, Tver, Rostov, Tambov regions and the Stavropol territory. At the same time, a slight decline is noted in Tomsk, Penza, Ryazan, Leningrad, Vladimir, Sverdlovsk regions and Krasnodar Krai", — said the Director of the Department of animal husbandry and breeding Ministry of agriculture of Kharon Amerkhanov.
