As at 21 April 2017 in the Russian Federation fueled 11.2 million ha (in 2016 is 10.9 million hectares), or 64.4% of the sowing area of winter crops. Including in the southern Federal district – 4.9 million ha or 80% of the sowing areas in the North Caucasian Federal district – 1.7 million ha or 75,7% of the sowing areas in the Central Federal district is 3.5 million hectares, or 89,2% of the sowing areas, in the Volga Federal district – 1.0 million hectares or 22.4% of the sowing areas in the northwestern Federal district (Kaliningrad oblast) of 61.9 hectares, or 61.8 per cent of the sowing area.

Spring sowing in the whole country conducted in an area of 6.0 million ha or 11.4% of the forecast (2016 and 6.9 million hectares). Including in the southern Federal district spring sowing carried out on an area of 2.5 million ha or 39.8% of the forecast (2016 and 2.8 million hectares). In the North Caucasian Federal district – 907,6 thousand ha or of 50.6% of the forecast (2016 – 795,6 thousand hectares). In the Central Federal district – 2.4 million ha or 25.5% of the forecast (2016 and 2.7 million hectares). In the far Eastern Federal district – 131.3 thousand ha or 7.1% of the forecast (2016 – 148,0 thousand hectares). In the Volga Federal district – 52.0 thousand hectares or 0.3% of the forecast (2016 – 418,0 thousand hectares). In the northwestern Federal district (Kaliningrad oblast) to 8.1 thousand hectares or 1.6% of the forecast (2016 and 41.8 thousand ha).

Spring grain crops in the whole country was sown on the area of 3.4 million hectares or 11.1% of the forecast (2016 – 4.2 million hectares). Of these, spring wheat was sown 407,5 thousand ha or 3% of the forecast (2016 – 478,4 thousand hectares). Spring barley on the area of 1.6 million hectares or 21.3% of the forecast (2016 – 2.1 million ha). Corn for grain – on the area of 706,7 thousand hectares, or 23.1% of the forecast (2016 – 812,9 thousand hectares). In the Rostov region, rice is planted on an area of 100 hectares or 0.7% of the forecast.

Sugar beet (factory) were sown 599,8 thousand ha, or 53.1% of the forecast (2016 – 629,2 thousand hectares).

Sunflower for grain in certain regions of the southern, North Caucasian and Central Federal districts were sown 924,8 thousand hectares or 12.9% of the forecast (2016 969,9 thousand hectares).

In some regions of the Central Federal district, the Republic of Adygea, the Chechen Republic and Penza region spring canola planted on an area of 39.6 thousand hectares or 4,5% of the forecast (2016 – 39.3 thousand ha).

Soybeans planted on an area of 47.4 hectares or 2.1% of the forecast (2016 – 54,2 thousand hectares).

Potatoes in the agricultural enterprises and peasant (farm) planted on the area of 32.9 thousand hectares or 9.8% of the forecast (2016 – 32.5 thousand hectares)

Vegetables in agricultural enterprises and peasant (farm) planted on an area of 37,0 thousand hectares or 18.2 per cent of the forecast (2016 – 34.9 thousand hectares).
