Our seeds are competitive and not inferior to imported either in productivity or quality, nor the price", — said the Minister.

He also drew attention to the fact that the province has increased production of vegetable crops. In 2016, the harvest exceeded 870 thousand tons, growth at the expense of greenhouse production, where only last year it was collected on 40% more vegetables than the year before.

As the Director of the rice research Institute Sergey Garkusha, the Institute has been breeding for five vegetable crops, original seed – seven, selection of melons – three. In the state register of breeding achievements included more than 50 varieties and hybrids of vegetable crops of open ground.

"Already this year the Institute will open joint Russian-Chinese laboratory. There is an agreement on scientific cooperation with Chilean colleagues," — said the head of the Institute.

Plans – Cuban and Chinese scientists will conduct research in the field of seed selection of rice and vegetables and then share the results.
