In recent years Russia has significantly increased its capacity to collect grain and legume crops. This was stated by Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev at a meeting with Governor of the Volgograd region Andrei Bocharov.

"This year, indeed, the weather conditions are very complex, however, we expect that the harvest will completely cover our demand for grain in the country and keep a very substantial export potential, which is also needed for foreign exchange proceeds for the farmers and for the solution of a number of other tasks", — said the Prime Minister.

Bocharov briefed Medvedev on the harvest. "Despite the difficult weather conditions, we carried out the instructions of the government for the collection of grain in the Volgograd region. If you plan 3.75 million grains we are today, ready to report to you, Mr Medvedev, have already collected 4 million tons of grain, fully complied with the government's plan, while removing 65% of the territory", — said the Governor.

"That is, may be increase to 4 million by this, it is possible to hope", — stated the Prime Minister. There is also planned work on vegetables, melon crops, said Bocharov. The Governor is confident that the year will be fruitful.

The Prime Minister focused on the issues of restoration of road economy of the region. According to Medvedev, the road to follow is extremely difficult given the fact that for decades, "almost not a penny invested". "Now with you drove, looked, and there are changes, it does not mean that all issues have been resolved. But obviously, the traffic, the economy started to recover," — said the Prime Minister.

Bocharov reported that the reduction of the roads in the Volgograd region in an appropriate state is performed in accordance with the plan, which was approved in 2014. According to him, the size of the Metropolitan area of Volgograd almost 2.5 million people, the main efforts of the authorities sent to bring the road Volgograd in good condition.
