Alexander Tkachev said that the Russian side attaches great importance to the further expansion of cooperation with Mexico, which is one of Russia's key partners in Latin America and the Caribbean.

"For the last 6 years the trade turnover between Russia and Mexico grew more than in 2 times. By the end of 2016 it will amount to 1.7 billion USD", — said Alexander Tkachev.

Further growth in bilateral trade is constrained by a number of restrictions, the removal of which, in the opinion of the Russian side, will expand the bilateral trade.

Russia and Mexico have a long and strong economic ties. This year marks 20 years since the conclusion of the basic political document between the two countries, the Declaration on principles of relations and cooperation between Russia and Mexico.

In 2016 the volume of deliveries of agricultural products between the two countries has increased by almost 50% compared to the previous year and amounted to 150 million US dollars. For 2016, the exports to Mexico have increased in value by 3 times due to the growth in physical volumes of supplies of wheat.

"In 2016, we put almost 500 thousand tons of wheat, worth 84 million dollars and I want to expand the supply of wheat to 1 million tons", — said Alexander Tkachev.

The Mexican party expressed its satisfaction with the further development of economic cooperation with Russia and interest in increasing imports from Mexico of meat and dairy products.

To discuss implementation issues of existing agreements and projects of bilateral cooperation the sides agreed to study the possibility of the VI session of the Mixed intergovernmental Russian-Mexican Commission in the I quarter of 2018 in Mexico.
