Wednesday in the Swedish city of Jokkmokk opened VI world reindeer herders ' Congress, which gathered representatives of the leading breeding States. The Congress is held under the auspices of the Association "world reindeer Herders". The total number of delegates – 85 participants from 29 reindeer herding areas of the circumpolar North. "Yamal today is the Russian leader in the supply of reindeer meat over the border, over the last 10 years the export volume has increased 10 times and amounted to more than 3 thousand tons. A new stage of development of the industry will be the implementation of projects of deep processing of reindeer products – antlers, blood, hides and reindeer skin," – said in the message.

In his report Viktor Yugay outlined the key aspects of regional policy in the industry. "The implementation of projects for the development of reindeer herding and exports initiated by the government of the region. These projects serve the creation of new commodity chains, the development of food industry, development of new markets and increase the demand on the Yamal products," – are reported words of the head of the relevant Department.

Also Yugay spoke about the state support of reindeer herding and traditional way of life of indigenous peoples living in the region. "The indigenous population of the Yamal receives comprehensive government support.
