The retail price on champagne and sparkling wines for new year holidays will rise by 10-15%, increase is associated with the traditional increase in demand and a low yield of grapes in Europe, said the head of the National trade Association Vadim Zuikov.

"People are gradually returning to their gustatory habits, so you can wait to increase interest in expensive brands cognac, whisky and so on", — quote "Izvestia" Zuikova.

He stressed that the alcoholic drinks will increase in price by 10% depending on brand. The increase in cost will not affect the alcohol in the lower price segment, as its large selection. And the price of French champagne in the middle and upper middle price segments will increase to 15%.

It is noted that alcohol producers are counting on the revision of the minimum price of champagne. Currently, the minimum retail price is 164 rubles per 0.75 L.

According to the publication, the issue of raising minimum prices is discussed in the Ministry of Finance, but the decision yet.

According EMISS, the production of champagne in Russia during the first eight months of 2017 decreased by 15% and amounted to 5.8 million decaliters, wine by 5%, to 21.1 million decaliters. Production of strong alcohol grew. This increases the volume of imports of sparkling wines — for the first three quarters of 2017, the import grew by 56% and amounted to 27 million decaliters.
